Key Responsibilities:
Join our team as a SHEA Manager in our Health & Safety department at our depot in Exeter, with regular attendance at our other depots based in Highbridge, Plymouth, and St Austell. We are looking for an enthusiastic, hardworking, and highly motivated person who can work alongside an already established team, where there will be opportunities for the right candidate to gain additional skills and training to progress their career within the construction industry.
- Assist the Head of SHEA with the continual development of the company’s integrated ISO Health, Safety, and Environmental management system
- Embed Glanville Environmental’s’ ‘All Safe’ accident prevention safety culture across the business
- Assist the company with identifying training and competence needs from inspection and incident findings
- Create and update SHEA documents and templates using the company’s software tools
- Manager the SHEA Advisor(s) and SHEA Administrator
- Develop and deliver SHEA training presentation material for the company and external stakeholders
- Carry out monthly analytical reviews of company SHEA data results and prepare monthly SHEA performance reports
- Prepare formal SHEA meeting agendas based on performance data, chair SHEA meetings, and issue minuted reports as required
- Support the development of Construction Phase Plans, Risk Assessments, Method Statements, Safe Systems of Work, and COSHH assessments as required
- Assist the company with supplier and subcontractor vetting as well as subcontractor monitoring
- Carry out site SHEA inspections and audits
- Manage and lead accident and incident investigations
- Carry out for-cause and random D&A testing as required
- Provide robust SHEA advice to managers, supervisors, and workers
- Work with HR to review occupational health medical records as required
- Assist with Environmental compliance across the company
- Support the SHEA team with the compilation of the company’s carbon emission data annually
Experience & Skills
- A minimum of 5 years in a H&S advisor role and must have obtained a NEBOSH Certificate (or equivalent)
- Good working knowledge of statutory legislation
- Proficient use of Microsoft Word / Forms / PowerPoint, and Excel
- Ability to work independently and to tight deadlines,
- Good organisational and time-management skills,
- Strong leadership skills to support a positive H&S culture,
- Good interpersonal skills,
- Previous experience within Construction or Civil Engineering is an advantage.
Qualification:
- Driving license essential
- CSCS / EUSR card essential
- NEBOSH Construction or General Certificate (or essential equivalent)
- Tech or GradIOSH membership is desirable
- NEBOSH Environmental Certificate desirable
- Asbestos Awareness training is desirable
- Streetworks certification training is desirable
- Confined Space training is desirable
- Membership in IEMA is desirable
